10-Year Retrospective Exhibition

by Maria Guerrero, Founder & Exec. Director, Women in the Arts Inc.

A great way to start a creative week is to look for inspiration in the recent works of these outstanding, award-winning artists at Women in the Arts: Lillian Verkins, Lindsay Merwin, Marianna Hamilton Ross, and Michelle Irizarry.

In "Chapel of Content" Lillian masterfully creates a place of visual rest where brushtrokes separate colors and forms revealing an almost unattainable space, filled with light and clarity. This space parallels the artist's search for a silver-lining in the midst of the impossible situation during the pandemic. A place of interior peace and hope.

Lindsay reveals important truth about women's self-image and identity challenges in her painting "Fracture." The artist creates tension by yuxtaposition of form and movement, strategically placing color bands and bringing unity to the entire piece.

Marianna's silk painting "Entangled" flawlessly merges nature and human form in a protective embrace representing strength and perseverance during the growth of a new life.

Michelle, artist and hydrologist, brings her specialty together in her painting of majestic Florida wildlife: "Great Blue Herons."

You are invited to view these works at the Orlando Public Library. The digital exhibition represents fifty-eight artists from Orlando and around the world honored in this year's Retrospective Exhibition: Celebrating the Genius of Women.

Enjoy the exhibition, connect with us and the artists on social media, and share this message with your audience.

Happy Women's History Month!
