10-Year Retrospective Exhibition
by Maria Guerrero, Founder & Exec. Director, Women in the Arts Inc.
This series brings you works from Russian artist: Irina Goryunova and Florida artists: Jennifer Payne, Leah Wiedemer, Leslie MacMillan.
Irina's painting is part of Women in the Arts' permanent collection, created in memory of the Pulse nightclub tragedy in Orlando, Florida. The title marks the exact coordinates where the devastating shooting took place on June 12, 2016.
"Grace" by Jennifer Payne balances a turbulent background reflecting the events of 2020 with a graceful and confident foreground portrait.
Leah's painting is a witness of the coastline damage during a hurricane. Her resolve to assess, repair, and carry on transpires in this oil painting: "Down But Not Out."
Leslie's silk painting celebrates Mexican culture and tradition with a narrative of intertwined, colorful figures in "Calavera Amor."
You are invited to view these works at the Orlando Public Library. The digital exhibition represents fifty-eight artists from Orlando and around the world honored in this year's Retrospective Exhibition: Celebrating the Genius of Women.
